On a cool Saturday morning high in California’s Eastern Sierra, Cole Davis and Laurel Quiñones won the elite races at UCI Mammoth TUFF gravel on Saturday 19 September in Mammoth Lakes.
Davis, a Roseville native who rides for SpeedStudio-Basso, won the men’s 89-mile (143 km) Tuffest route in 04:27:35. Ben Byra was second, 3 minutes 0 seconds back, and Lance Haidet third at 7 minutes 2 seconds. Matthew Wiebe and Lucas Miers completed the top five.
Quiñones won the women’s race in 05:17:31. Jennifer Tave, who won here in 2025, was second at 6 minutes 38 seconds. Kira Stock was third at 22 minutes 59 seconds.
The route, one of the most challenging in the UCI Gravel Worlds Series, climbs about 2,286 metres and reaches an altitude of nearly 2,400 metres, where oxygen is scarce.
On the shorter 67-mile (108 km) Tuffer route, Carson Bagley won in 03:40:32, less than 1 second ahead of Griffith Vertican. Ludovic Hilde, a UCI 55-59 rider, was third at 7 seconds. Sumer Avila won the women’s Tuffer in 04:02:19. UCI 55-59 rider Sabine Bildstein was second at 22 seconds, and UCI 50-54 rider Charity Chia third at 20 minutes 38 seconds.
Now in its fifth edition and second as a gravel worlds qualifier, Mammoth TUFF gives riders who finish in the top 25% of their UCI age and gender category a starting place at the UCI Gravel World Championships. The 2026 championships take place in Nannup, Western Australia, on Saturday 10 October and Sunday 11 October.
