Shaun Inglis and Erin Thompson took the headline victories at a windy and wet Tour O The Borders on Sunday 06 September, with 1,684 riders completing the two-course Scottish Borders sportive from Peebles.
Inglis, riding for Hawick Cycling Club, won the 120-kilometre Full Route in 03:06:08, finishing just 14 seconds ahead of Ben Scott. Jordan Irvine was another 20 seconds back in third at 03:06:42.
Thompson was the fastest woman on the Full Route in 03:25:03, 8 minutes 8 seconds ahead of Ester Livesley with Iona Miller next at 3:43:53.
The 88-kilometre Challenge Route was won by Rory Hebel in 02:43:44. Simon Hebel finished second, while Douglas Brown completed the men’s podium to take third.
Sarah Winskill was the fastest woman on the Challenge Route, finishing in 03:32:33, followed by Heather Beattie and Meghan Davis in that order.
The Full Route attracted 1,335 finishers, while another 349 completed the Challenge Route. The event’s 2026 edition featured 1200 metres of climbing on the long course and 940 metres on the shorter route.
Starting and finishing in Peebles, Tour O The Borders once again showcased the roads of the Scottish Borders, with the Full Route taking in landmarks including the Devil’s Beeftub, Moffat Dale and Grey Mare’s Tail. The event was also part of the region’s growing cycling profile ahead of the Tour de France Grand Départ’s visit to Scotland in 2027.
