Heavy rain and slick roads rewrote the script at the 28th edition of the BGY Airport Granfondo, as the overwhelming majority of the 1,700 starters opted for the 91 km short route, transforming it into the day’s main competitive race. Around 900 riders finished the shortest course, compared with roughly 90 on the 131 km medium route and 50 on the 148 km long route.

Matteo Bertocchi (A.S.D. Team Morotti Bike) claimed victory in the men’s 91 km event in 02:23:10, with team-mate Matteo Testa finishing 52 seconds behind in second place. Davide Prandelli (Garda Scott Matergia A.S.D.) completed the podium a further nine seconds back. It marked a dominant showing from the Morotti squad, which placed two riders on the podium in the day’s largest race.

In the women’s 91 km event, Maria Donzelli (P.M. Sport S.S.D. R.L.) won in 02:39:20. Teresa Buzzella (A.S.D. Swatt Club) finished second at 5 minutes 18 seconds, while Manuela Pedrana (Fire & Ice Livigno) took third, another 2 minutes 43 seconds behind.

On the 131 km medium route, Raul Colombo (Team BCP Bike) won the men’s race in 03:29:04, edging Christian Dallago (Team Da-Tor) by a single second in a tight finish. Tatiana De Souza Melo (Bike&Co), a Como-based rider of Brazilian origin, was the only woman to complete the medium distance, finishing in 05:07:26 after choosing to continue through the cold and rain rather than divert onto the shorter course.

Alberto Nardin (Mg.K Vis Promotech) successfully defended his long-route title, winning the men’s 148 km race in 04:04:48 and also securing the Eugenio Mercorio prize for the fastest ascent of Selvino. No women completed the longest distance.

The 2026 edition also marked a significant milestone, with the event surpassing 100,000 cumulative starters since its inaugural running on Sunday 4 May 1996.

Despite the harsh weather — which left dedicated course marshals working in full rain gear — riders from 30 nations across four continents took part. Thirteen “Puntuali” — riders who have participated in every edition — were honoured with front-grid starting positions.
