The Italian National Anti-Doping Organization (NADO) announced that amateur cyclist Luca Bartolucci, 54, has been preliminarily suspended after he allegedly violated anti-doping rules by skipping or refusing to provide an anti-doping biological sample when ordered by NADO – a World Anti-Doping Article 2.3 violation.
Bartolucci, who rides for Team Promotech MG KVIS, is the third team rider to be accused of anti-doping violations by NADO in the past month. Teammates Fabio Cini and Ersilio Fantini were charged with using the banned substances Stanazolol and Epherdrine/Oxycodone respectively. In addition, six members of the team were targeted and ordered to submit anti-doping test samples at Granfondo Internazionale Laigueglia on 24 February.
Bartolucci most recently finished 17th in the Men’s 50-54 year-old category at Granfondo Via del Sale on 7 April.
