The Amashova Durban Classic organiser announced that after a two year pause due to the pandemic the popular springtime event will take place on 24 October 2021.

Following new COVID safe protocols just approved by the government and Cycling South Africa, Amashova will require all riders provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or negative testing to participate.  In addition, no spectators will be allowed, access to the event will be controlled and random government checks may occur.

With no other road cycling event held since 2019, the eagerly anticipated event is almost sold out for both the 38 kilometre Piccolo Fondo and 80 kilometre Medio Fondo.  The amateur races will take place on a fully closed out-and-back highway.

“We have missed putting on this wonderful race and engaging with our loyal cyclists just as much as I am sure they have missed riding with full road closure,” Event Director Annie Batchelder announced on social media.
