2021 is looking a lot like 2020 as amateur cycling events worldwide are once again starting to cancel due to the ongoing pandemic.

The United State’s lead off road event, Red Bluff Gran Fondo in the state of Mississippi, regretfully announced the 7 March race has been cancelled.

“Given the unknowns going into 2021, we do not believe we can live up to the standards we have established in our short two years of existence. This is not an easy decision. We apologize for any inconvenience the cancelation causes anyone and for the disappointment the riders will feel because of the decision, but we feel it is prudent given our circumstance,” the event posted on social media.

The 2020 edition was very well attended with former pros Frankie Andreau, Phil Gaimon and Lauren Hall participating in one of the last gran fondos before the virus ended the American cycling season.

Red Bluff Gran Fondo plans to return in 2022.
