The first edition of Gran Fondo Vincenzo Nibali 5 Mila Marche has changed dates just weeks after being announced.

The change of date was necessary to be sure of Nibali’s presence at the Gran Fondo that bears his name.  In addition, the coronavirus situation is not expected to change significantly by June and puts the original date at risk of cancellation.

With Nibali scheduled to race the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and the Tokyo Olympics, the organizing committee of the gran fondo has decided to postpone the date from 13 June to 17 October 2021.

The event offers three days of cycling celebration in Porto Recanati, a relaxing Italian seaside resort on the Adriatic Sea.  The 123 kilometre gran fondo race with 2170 metres vertical is the main event, but a 77 kilometre medio fondo is also available.

Official registration opens on 15 January at  http://www.gfnibali5milamarche.com/
