A record number of amateur cyclists raced across the Northern Territory of Australia at the 9th edition of Top End Gran Fondo on Sunday 30 August.

Over 700 riders participated in the largest cycling event in the Northern Territory.  With 7 races from a 3km Mini Fondo all the way up to the 145km Sunbuild Gran Fondo, there was a ride for everyone.

In the gran fondo Oliver Hartung was fastest and out sprinted Sam Klippan, Phillip Brownscombe, Cameron Judson and Leon Schulz to win the Men’s race in 3:38:08.

The Women’s Gran Fondo race also came down to a sprint, with Prue Chellis nipping Rachel Mclean for the win in 3:44:06.

Medio Fondo Men’s Champion Gary Cassidy finished 109km in 2:58:04, while Jenna Davidson rode a 3:12:12 to become the Women’s Champion.

On 6 Sunday September riders have one more chance to ride at the Top End Gran Fondo Virtual ROUVY 25km eRace.  Anyone in the world can participate, all you need is access to a trainer and a screen.
