On Saturday 5 September at 07:00, France’s La Marmotte cyclosportive race began, taking 2000 participants through the emblematic peaks of the Alps including Glandon, Télégraphe, and Galibier passes, plus the final climb to the top of Alpe d’Huez.

21 year-old professional rider Émilie Fortin from Canada crossed the Atlantic to race La Marmotte and she won. Finishing the 174km women’s race, with 5200m climbing, in 7:00:57. Belgian Ils Van Der Moeren was second in 7:06:54 and Linda Stuurma from the Netherlands was third in 7:31:45.

Belgian Michiel Minnaert won the Men’s race in 5:55:19 with perennial podium finisher Fabio Cini from Italy clocking in at 5:56:19 and Frenchman Julien Berard finishing in 5:56:40 to complete the podium.
