Racing on Cuzumel, Mexico’s pancake flat roads, Mexican Moisés Aldape, with an average speed of 26.45mph over 100 miles, won the 2019 GFNY Cozumel gran fondo in 3:47:01. Finishing second was Yayir de Jesús Jiménez in 3:47:08, followed by Cédric Haas 3:47:17.

38-year old Aldape is a former professional rider and Olympian who was at his best in 2008 when he finished 3rd overall at both the USA Tour of Georgia and Canadian Tour de Beauce stage races.

In the women’s 100 mile GFNY Cozumel gran fondo race, María Monserrat Camargo took the win in 3:48;12. Maria Jose Lopez finished 6 seconds later with Ana Maria Hernandz Delgado anther 2 seconds back.

Former professional and 2x Tour de France stage winner Raúl Alcalá also raced the gran fondo, finishing 37th in 3:48:20.
731 GFNY Cozumel racers earned results in the competitive 100 mile gran fondo which featured two laps around the world famous Mexican resort island. Another 1200 cyclists participated in the non-competitive 50-mile ride.
