For the 2nd time in less than a month the new UCI Gran Fondo World Series race in Costa Rica, Gran Fondo Costa Rica, has canceled their race date and rescheduled the event.

The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, September 28, but roads through which the race would travel needed repair.

So the promoter announced the  event was rescheduled for  November 9-10, but the Costa Rica Cycling Federation did not permit the event since another race (Clasica de Ciclismo Bike and Go ) was already scheduled to take place on the same dates.

No agreement could be reached between the promoter and the Costa Rica Cycling Federation on an alternative date in 2019.

So now Gran Fondo Costa Rica is rescheduled for May 30 and 31, 2020. The event will still start in Puerto Limón and finish high in the mountains at Tucurrique, after 122km of racing.

Riders finishing in the first 20% of each age category will automatically qualify for the 2020 World Championships to be held in Vancouver, Canada.
