Marty Epstein, the owner of Marty’s Reliable Cycles in Morristown, New Jersey USA and founder of Gran Fondo New Jersey, died Thursday morning, May 2, 2019 after a six year battle with cancer.

He was 69.

Epstein was one of the best known figures in the New Jersey cycling scene, opening Marty’s Reliable Cycles in 1978 and starting Gran Fondo New Jersey in 2011.  The gran fondo has grown to be the largest cycling event in the state and has raised more the $1.5 million for local charities.
