Cory Lockwood of Tehachapi, California USA is a cycling king around town. A local gran fondo legend. Five years ago he started road cycling and completed his first gran fondo – Tehachapi Gran Fondo – and won.
He’s won it every year since, and many others too.
Now at age 30 and a pro cyclist for team Semper Porro, he’s motivated and driven to take his cycling career to the next level. To say he’s on a roll is an understatement, so far he’s won the USA amateur time trail championship, Valley of The Sun race and most recently the prestigious Redlands Bicycle Classic stage race.
But he’s not forgotten his gran fondo roots. Look for him at the next Tehachapi Gran Fondo, where it all started.
“This is my favorite event I do all year,” Lockwood said. “I get to be in my hometown and celebrate my birthday. There’s pretty weather up here in September. It’s a lot of fun. I’ve ridden in quite a few group ride events, and this is the best one I’ve done.”
