American ultra-endurance specialist Nick DeHaan won the 100-mile race at the Lowell Classic, the final event in the Michigan Gravel Race Series, on Saturday 24 October, finishing in 04:47:08.

Starting in foggy conditions from Lowell, Michigan, DeHaan averaged about 33.6 km/h (20.9 mph) and claimed the top podium step after finishing second last year.

Scott Spray was next in 04:48:52, 1 minute 44 seconds behind. Karson Glass completed the podium in 05:02:48, 15 minutes 40 seconds behind the winner.

Jennifer Miller won the women’s 100 mile race in 6:10:14, just 9 seconds ahead of Merete Stenersen.

DeHaan arrived in Lowell with a notable rĂ©sumĂ©. In August 2023, he was the first rider to finish the world famous Paris-Brest-Paris randonnĂ©e, covering the 1,219-kilometre route across France in 41:46:30 and smashing the course record by more than 40 minutes. Saturday’s win added a gravel victory to his rĂ©sumĂ©.

The shorter distances produced tighter finishes. In the 54-mile race, Bobby Munro won in 02:15:48, with Amir Danel credited with the same time and Kyan Olshove finishing third in 02:15:49. Molly Roberts led the women in 02:28:15, 1 second ahead of Ellory Clason.

On the 38-mile route, Easton Roberts won the men’s race in 01:42:20, while Sheila Sherwood took the women’s title in 01:47:10.

Matt Richards won the 15-mile event in 0:46:49, with Elsa Opfer the fastests woman in 0:49:13.
