The UCI and MyWhoosh have created the UCI Junior and Masters Cycling Esports World Championships, marking the first time amateur esports world titles will be awarded outside the Elite categories.

The inaugural edition will take place remotely on Saturday, 12 December 2026, one week after the Elite Finals. Riders will represent their national federations and must hold a UCI licence and UCI ID.

UCI President David Lappartient made the announcement: “Cycling esports has grown incredibly in recent years and continues to thrive. After five very successful editions of the UCI Cycling Esports World Championships for Elite riders, I am delighted that we will now offer Junior and Masters riders the chance to earn the rainbow jersey of UCI World Champion in this discipline that connects people from all continents and of all ages and abilities.”

Junior events are open to riders born in 2008 and 2009. Masters events are open to riders aged 40 and over, with five-year age groups. Each category must have at least 10 starters for the race to take place and a title to be awarded.

Racing will take place on the MyWhoosh virtual cycling platform on a recreation of the Montréal 2026 UCI Road World Championships finishing circuit, which is 13.3 kilometres long with 247 metres of climbing per lap. Juniors and Masters riders aged 60 and over will ride two laps, covering 26.6 kilometres. Masters riders aged 40 to 59 will ride three laps, covering 39.9 kilometres. Finishing order will determine the results.

Riders need a verified MyWhoosh account, approved equipment, dual power recording and must pass the Power Passport Test. They must also have completed at least three Sunday Race Club events by 01 December and pass pre-event verification, including live monitoring of power, cadence and heart rate. National kit (virtual) is required.

Results will remain provisional until MyWhoosh verification is complete and the UCI commissaires have ratified them.
