Six records fell at Austria’s Lake Attersee on Saturday 26 September 2026 as the 16th edition of the ASVO King of the Lake lived up to its billing as Europe’s largest time trial. A field that organisers say reached 1,600 entries from 24 nations tackled the closed-road, 47.2-kilometre course around Lake Attersee in near-perfect conditions.
The headline result belonged to WorldTour professional Max Walscheid, who was competing in the elite category as the reigning German runner-up in the individual time trial. The Lidl-Trek rider obliterated the absolute course record, claiming the Elite King title in 00:52:54, over three minutes inside the previous mark set last year by Dutch pro Brian Megens.
In the open men’s race, Julian Braun took the King of the Lake title, powered by Specialized, in 00:55:23. Leila Gschwentner won the Elite Queen crown in 01:04:11, while Pia Pfeiffer claimed the overall Queen of the Lake title in 01:06:13.
The U23 ranks, backed by Raiffeisen Oberösterreich, also produced records. Benjamin Eckerstorfer clocked 00:55:55 to take the U23 King title with a new category record, while Tirza Wisse won the U23 Queen crown in 01:04:18, setting a record for her category.
In the team events, defending champions RH77 Factory Racing, led by René Haselbacher, won the 10-rider team time trial in 00:56:22, setting a new record. A sister squad also set a new four-rider team record of 00:57:38.
