A second member of Australia’s Canberra Bilbys Triathlon Club has died from injuries sustained in the crash that killed fellow triathlete Bridie Lee, 32, on Thursday 27 August 2026.
Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Policing confirmed that the 39-year-old man, who had remained in critical condition since the crash, died in hospital on Thursday 03 September, one week after a car struck a group of five club members during their regular bunch ride on Gungahlin Drive in Palmerston. His identity has not yet been released by his family or the club.
Lee, originally from Perth, was pronounced dead at the scene. Friends and club members gathered at the crash site this past weekend to lay floral tributes in her memory. The driver, a 40-year-old woman, has not been charged, and police continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
ACT cycling advocacy group Pedal Power said the community was deeply saddened, extending condolences to the man’s family, friends and fellow riders, and noting that two lives have now been lost in the incident.
