Italy’s anti-doping authorities have provisionally suspended two more amateur masters cyclists within days of each other, as NADO Italia’s enforcement campaign shows no sign of slowing during the 2026 racing season.

Italy’s Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping (TNA), acting on requests from the National Anti-Doping Prosecution Office, has imposed provisional suspensions on Federica Giglioli (FCI) and Vincenzo Salierno (FCI) for alleged violations of Articles 2.1 and 2.2 of the Italian Anti-Doping Sports Code, which govern the presence of a prohibited substance and the use of a prohibited substance or method. Both controls were administered by NADO Italia. No prohibited substances have been publicly identified in either case.

Giglioli, a Liguria-based road racer competing for Bicisport Sanguinetti, was in impressive form before the suspension was announced on Friday 26 June. Just 19 days earlier, on Sunday 07 June, she won the women’s 55-59 category at the Granfondo del Vento in Bagni di Lucca, a demanding Tuscan road race featuring timed climbs through the Garfagnana mountains. Her recent record is also strong. She finished third in her age group at the UCI Gran Fondo World Series qualifier Granfondo Tre Valli Varesine last October, clocking 03:12:15 on the Mediofondo course, and has also reached the podium at Granfondo Squali.

Salierno, who races mountain bike events for Campania’s ASD Vesuvio Mountain Bike, was provisionally suspended on Monday 22 June, eight days after competing in the Mainarde Bike Race in Filignano, Molise, the region’s premier mountain bike gran fondo and a wildcard round of this year’s Race Cup MTB Centro Italia. On the 41-kilometre course through the Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise, Salierno finished 62nd overall in 02:30:26 and 10th in his 40-44 age category.

As with all provisional suspensions, Giglioli and Salierno are presumed innocent unless and until the TNA reaches a final decision following disciplinary proceedings. However, both are barred from participating in sport in any capacity while their cases are ongoing.
