Florian Heidenwag continued his ascent through the ranks of German amateur cycling on Sunday 07 June 2026, claiming victory in the 100 km PŸUR Neuseen Classics around Leipzig’s Neuseenland lake district.
The German rider powered across the finish line solo with arms raised in 02:17:33 to secure one of the country’s most prestigious mass-participation road race titles. Lars Brödner finished second at 1 minute 35 seconds, while Marcel Schmidt completed the podium at 2 minutes 42 seconds.
The result marks another significant step forward for Heidenwag, whose progression has been evident over the past two seasons. In September 2024, riding for Sebamed Racing Team, he finished 13th overall at the prestigious three-stage Riderman race in Bad Dürrheim, ending the event 4 minutes 46 seconds behind overall winner Stefan Kirchmair — a UCI Gran Fondo World Champion. Heidenwag placed consistently across all three stages to secure a top-15 general classification finish against one of the strongest amateur fields in Germany.
His development continued in 2025 when he finished third at the 110 km ADAC Cyclassics Jedermann race in Hamburg. Less than a year later, Heidenwag stood atop the podium in Leipzig, converting podium potential into outright victory.
The women’s 100 km race was won by Carmen Burmeister in 02:27:07. Victoria Niemand finished second at 1 minute 03 seconds, while Sofia Jacobs took third at 2 minutes 11 seconds.
In the flagship 212 km Radmarathon Julian Schmitz claimed victory in 05:50:13. Johannes Angermann finished second at 40 seconds and Sandro Kuban completed the podium at 3 minutes 13 seconds. In the women’s marathon, Karmen Dietze prevailed in 07:15:24 ahead of Theresa Konieczny.
Originating from the historic Rund um die Braunkohle races, the Neuseen Classics has evolved into one of eastern Germany’s premier cycling festivals, attracting thousands of riders annually to the roads surrounding Leipzig’s former lignite mining region.
