After winning the Italian gran fondo season opener last weekend, MgKVis-Promotech-FMB team leader Alberto Nardin continued his winning ways on Sunday on the Italian Riviera at the 28th Granfondo International Laigueglia, with teammate Roberta Bussone also victorious to make it a team sweep.
From a sold-out field of 1400 participants Nardin, 36, waited until the final meters of the 112km gran fondo to out-sprint 26 year-old breakaway companions Mikel Demiri, also MgKVis, and Nicolo Camusi of the Mooveo team to win 2:56:23. It was Nardin’s third consecutive Granfondo International Laigueglia win.
MgKVis-Promotech-FMB also claimed the top step of the women’s podium with Roberta Bussone, 43, winning in 3:14:10. Next to cross the finish was OM.CC rider Martina Cavallo, 36, at 3:19:21 and then Elisa Leardini, 30, of the Vibrata Bike team at 3:23:50.
