Multiple UCI Gran Fondo World Champion Bruce Bird, 54, won his second in a row Hincapie Gran Fondo on Saturday in Chattanooga, Tennessee USA.

In October 2022 the Canadian won Hincapie Gran Fondo Greenville, and has now added the Chattanooga event to his palmarès.

Bird finished the 77-mile event solo in 3:18:05, followed by Bradley Cobb of Georgia (3:18:48) and local rider Austin Sullivan (3:18:52). Just behind in fourth place was last year’s champion, 15 year-old Enzo Hincapie (3:18:53), who held off aging ex-pros Christian Vande Velde, Bobby Julich and George Hincapie (Enzo’s father).

Amy Phillips from Chattanooga won the women’s 77-mile event in 3:39:44, with Indiana resident Sarah Scheutter (3:45:46) and Jacqueline Green (3:45:48) of Alabama next.

Yamid Retropo (2:25:46) and Lizzie Nyitray (2:45:27) won 55-mile medio fondo event in the men’s and women’s category respectively.

On a beautiful spring day in the southern Appalachian Mountains over 900 riders participated in Hincapie Gran Fondo Chattanooga, hosted by former pro George Hincapie.
