Granfondo Laigueglia Lapierre opened the Italian GS Alpi, Zero Wind Show and Nalini Road Series circuits, with former UCI Gran Fondo World Champion Federico Pozzetto and Lisa Aime soloing to victory in the men’s and women’s races respectively.

Just three days before professional riders compete on the same roads for the Laigueglia Professionisti Trophy, 1300 amateur riders took to the start line for the twenty-fifth edition of Granfondo Laigueglia Lapierre on Sunday 26 February.

With a 70 kilometers long solo escape, Federico Pozzetto (Mg.K Vis Dal Colle Re Artù) held off all chasers to win the 138km race in 3:15:28, followed 24 seconds later by Rossano Mauti (AP07) 24 and then Raphael Tiziani (Garda Scott Matergia) at 1 minute 6 seconds behind. Current UCI Gran Fondo World Champion Stefan Kirchmair finished fifth.

Among the women, Lisa Aime (Team De Rosa Santini) scored her second win of the season with a final time of 3:38:27. Earning second place was Emilie Bottini (Zerotest) at 3:44:38 and Michela Tallone (Mentecorpo Cicli Drigani) was third in 3:47:20.
