To be held in southwest Scotland on Saturday 20 May 2023, The Gralloch gravel race will be the first UK event to join the UCI Gravel World Championship Series, allowing pro and amateur cyclists the opportunity to qualify to race at the UCI Gravel World Championships in the October.

The race will start and finish in the Dumfries and Galloway town of Gatehouse of Fleet, some 160km south of Glasgow and 50km southwest of Dumfries.

While the final route is still under design, the organizer (RED:ON) says riders will tackle about 110 kilometers of dirt and gravel, taking them north on a hilly route into the Galloway Forest Park. With 2000 meters of climbing among the rolling hills of the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere, participants can expect a tough day in the saddle.

As a UCI Gravel World Series event, riders will compete in age/gender categories with those finishing in the top 25% automatically qualifying for the Gravel World Championships.

More qualifying events may be added in coming months and dates may change, but you can always find the latest 2023 UCI Gravel World Championship Series calendar HERE.
