On Wednesday the International Olympics Committee (IOC) announced they will launch their much anticipated eSports initiative at the inaugural Olympic Esports Week in Singapore 22-25 June 2023, culminating with the first ever in-person live finals for IOC Esports, including cycling.

In 2021 the IOC partnered with the Zwift virtual cycling platform to host Olympic Virtual Series events for amateur cyclists, who rode over 3 million kilometers prior to the Tokyo Olympic games.
The IOC Esports initiative is led by Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) President David Lappartient who has embraced adding Esports not only as another UCI discipline, including a Cycling Esports World Championship in February 2023, but also under the Olympic banner.
Unfortunately, details for the 2023 Olympic Esports Week are non-existent at the moment, including anti-Edoping protocols, but the IOC plans to share more information early next year, including how amateur cyclists may participate.
