Worldwide gran fondo organiser GFNY is not letting the pandemic slow down expansion with 25 events now planned for 2022, including the first ever event in Scandinavia.
On 3 July in Uppsala, just north of the Swedish capital of Stockholm, GFNY Uppsala will offer amateurs a 168 kilometre gran fondo with over 1800 metres of climbing – but without any major climbs. After leaving from city centre, the course will complete two 60km laps around Sweden’s old Viking capital, Gamla Uppsala, in the rolling countryside. The course favors “rouleurs”, all-round riders, who can hide in the peloton, power-up hundreds of short climbs and then sprint at the finish.
With a region rich in Viking history that dates back more than 2000 years, Uppsala offers numerous epic challenges both on and off the bike, making the event perfect for a weekend or weeklong midsummer getaway.
Finish in the top 20% of your age group and you will also earn a front row starting slot at the 2023 GFNY World Championships in New York City.
