A sold out Gran Fondo Movistar Punta del Este took place on the coast of Uruguay on Saturday 28 November with overcast skies and 600 cyclists participating on 119 and 59 kilometres long routes.
Vicentino Sebastian soloed to victory in the gran fondo with a time of 2:55:07, easily outsprinting silver medalist Gionanny Umpierrez (2:55:09). Gonzalo Gonzalez won the chasing field sprint five minutes later to take the bronze medal, crossing the finish line in 3:00:35.
Abiana Granizal, who finished third at the 2021 Uruguay National Championships, convincingly earned the Women’s gold medal with a time of 3:00:56. Alfonsia Rivedieu (3:13:22) and Romilda Porrini (3:14:25) earned the silver and bronze medals.
Cirilo Clavijo (2:40:24) won the Men’s medio fondo, while Caterina Gilabert (2:25:40) was the first woman.
