FIND NOVEMBER 2022 UCI GRAN FONDO ANTALYA RESULTS HERE
UCI Gran Fondo World Championship qualifying resumed for amateur cyclists this weekend in Turkey at Gran Fondo Nirvana Antalya. Over 600 competitors participated in gran fondo, medio fondo and paracycling races along the country’s beautiful and warm southern Mediterranean Coast.
The 68 kilometre paracycling race was an all Turkish affair, with Baris Asa winning in 1:40:36 after outsprinting Firat Ugar, who finished 1 second later. Mustafa Saglam was third in 1:57:56.
The 101 kilometre gran fondo race came down to a sprint between three top riders from three different countries, after the trio distanced themselves from the chasing pack. In the end it was local semi-pro Turkish rider Gokhan Uzuntas who had the fastest legs to to win in 2:20:46. Ukrainian Yevhen Filin was second and Russian Dmitry Murasko third.
British rider Charlotte Buchanan won the Women’s race in 2:31:49 to claim her second UCI victory (and UCI Gran Fondo World Series jersey) of the weekend after winning the time trial on Friday.
Turkish riders Ayhan Oksak (Men) and Meltem Kilic (Women) won their respective Medio Fondo races.
Riders finishing in the top 20% of their age category qualify to attend the 2022 UCI Gran Fondo World Championship next September in Trento, Italy.
