With unrestricted travel to the Isle of Man due to resume on the 28 June, UCI Gran Fondo Isle of Man has confirmed details for the 2021 UCI Gran Fondo World Champiinship qualifying race and opened entries.

The two-day event will take place on the 4-5 September offering cyclists of all ages and abilities the chance to challenge themselves on a completely closed road course.

Saturday 4 September will open with an all-new UCI Individual Time Trial taking in the climb of Snaefell Mountain on the infamous Isle of Man TT motorcycle racing circuit. The parcours covers just 9km but should not be underestimated, with a total of 400 metres of climbing to overcome.

Sunday 5 September is headlined by the main Gran Fondo event. Competitors in the Gran Fondo will have the chance to earn the right to represent their country in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Bosnia and Herzegovina this October.

The 137km parcours features a very challenging 1900meters of climbing, as it circumnavigates some of the toughest terrain the Isle of Man has to offer. Riders will have to overcome gradients of over 25% on the climbs, a number of technical descents as well as a 2km gravel section as they navigate their way around the closed roads route.

Entries for all Gran Fondo Isle of Man events are now open at granfondoisleofman.com. Places are limited and participants are urged to enter early to avoid disappointment.
