Haute Route, purveyor of world-wide multi-day gran fondo cycling races, has jumped on the gravel bandwagon.
Billed as the world’s only multi-day gravel race series, Gravel Epic, they hope to create uniquely challenging events unlike anything else – i.e. Gravel Epic.
“We are so excited to add the Gravel Epic…to our event lineup in 2021. The world of cycling is evolving very quickly. With new disciplines giving riders from all over the globe a new way to discover the world by bike, we are so excited to be expanding our portfolio of events to offer unique experiences to cyclists from all horizons,” said Haute Route’s Julie Royer.
For 2021 Gravel Epic features two events, a point-to-point race over three days at Gravel Epic Marrakech and a two day Gravel Epic Switzerland high in the Alps.

Gravel Epic Switzerland is planned for 25-26 September in the Valais region on the Swiss-Italian border with 200km of gravel and 6000m of gritty Alpine climbing. Entry fees are 320-430 CHF excluding lodging and food.

The three day point-to-point Gravel Epic Marrakech race on 7-9 October will take haute graveleurs into and around the Atlas Mountains and Agafay Desert of Morocco. Riders will grind out 350km and ascend 6000m over three days. Registration runs 449-559 Euros with “Sherpa, Bedouin and Sultan” level lodging and food accommodations (as well as a boutique gîte spa option) available at additional cost.
