Austria’s top-class amateur cycling series, Top Tour, is coming back in 2021 with new races, dates and plans to keep riders pandemic safe.
The summer series kicks-off on 6 June 2021 with the return of Arbö Radmarathon in Bad Kleinkirchheim. Cyclists will compete up timed mountain pass segments with the rest of the route ridden more leisurely (or not) past beautiful Lake Millstatt and through Nockberge National Park.
On 13 June the series moves to Lienz for Giro Dolomite, considered the hardest of all the races, to tackle the world famous Monte Zoncolan in Italy on a cross-border route.
The following week’s race is at the St. Pölten Cycle Marathon on 20 June, followed by Mondsee 5-Lake Cycle Marathon on 27 June in the wonderful Salzkammergut lake region outside Salzburg.
The Großglockner Bike Challenge on 10 July races 17.2 kilometers and 1212 vertical metres up the highest peak in Austria on the cobbled Großglockner High Alpine Road, which is closed to traffic for the race.
The Salzkammergut Trophy on 17 July in Bad Goisern introduces gravel racing to the series in partnership with Austria’s largest MTB race.
The Ultra Rad Challenge in Oststeiermark on 23 July offers 24, 12, 6 and 3 hour racing for teams and solo riders on an 18km closed course. Austrian National Championship men’s and women’s jerseys will be awarded for the most distance ridden solo in 24-hours.
Neusiedlersee Radmarathon in Mörbisch 3 October will complete the 2021 series on a fast, flat and fabulous course through the UNESCO World Heritage region in the far east of Austria.
