The on-off-on French cycling gran fondo L’Etape du Tour announced on Tuesday that it definitely “off”, after organizer A.S.O. announced cancellation of the 2020 edition in Nice, France due to the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over 16,000 gran fondo cyclists registered for the 6 September race.
The initial date of 5 July was canceled in the midst of the pandemic and the organizers reschedule it for September.
The decision to cancel was made after verifying the difficulties encountered by many participants of being available that day, especially those who had to come from abroad.
The organizers indicated that the July 2021 edition will maintain the Nice route planned for this year and all those who had registered for this edition are automatically registered for the next.
