The first edition of L’Étape Spain by Tour de France, which was scheduled for July 4 with departure and finish in Villanueva del Pardillo (Madrid), has been postponed until November 21 due to the pandemic.
The promoter, ASO, changed the date “with the aim of guaranteeing the health and safety of all participants so that the event can be held in the best possible conditions while maintaining the quality seal of the Tour de France,” they said.
With ASO also cancelling their 15,000 rider L’Etape du Tour amateur race in France, the rescheduled L’Etape Spain is sure to sell out – although registration bibs are still available.
Cyclists already registered will automatically have their bib saved for the new date, while those who cannot attend may request a 100% refund.
In this first edition, two-time Tour de France champion Alberto Contador will ride alongside amateurs in the 168 kilometer race with 3000 meters of climbing.
