Zwift’s Haute Route Watopia online gran fondo just might turn out to be the largest gran fondo in the world this year.
The 3-day 3-stage virtual gran fondo held April 3-5 attracted 17,802 cyclists to the online training/racing platform, with 7869 completing all 3 stages.
Two time Ötztaler Cycle Marathon champion Stefan Kirchmair won the event with a combined time of 3:42:50. The Austrian is a regular Zwift racer, having participated in over 400 online races.

Japanese rider T IDK finished second in 3:43:38, while new Zwift racer Marshall Wu from China took the final podium step with a time of 3:44:27.

Pro Tour racer and Tour de France KOM Champion Warren Barguil (Team Arkéa Samsic) rode the 3rd and final “Pretzel” stage, a 72km route with two major climbs, finishing 11th.
