Stefano Bonanomi (MP Filtri) and Annalisa Prato (Team Colpack ) won the 22nd Italian Laigueglia Lapierre International Granfondo on Sunday, while fears of Coronavirus sunk attendance.
For Prato it is her second consecutive Laigueglia victory having won in 2019. This year she finished a dominating 7 minutes in front of Luisa Bisonni (Boario), while Sabrina De Marchi (Vivi Somec) was third.
Bonanomi finish 6 seconds in front of Andrea Pisetta (Biemme Garda Sport) and 14 seconds clear of Federico Pozzetto (Falasca MgKVis Luxor) to round out the men’s podium.
With 132 confirmed Coronavirus cases in the Italian Lombardy region, up from just 3 a few days ago, authorities quarantined towns and asked people to avoid public gatherings and sporting events. Over 400 (20%) registered gran fondo riders followed the request and stayed home, while1600 picked up bib numbers and started the race.
