It is still a long wait for the 40th edition of the Alpine classic Ötztaler Radmarathon on August 30th, but if you want a chance to ride one of the Alps’ biggest cycling events the race for registration slots begins February 1.

Registration is available online at oetztaler-radmarathon.com from February 1 – 29, 2020.  Expect upwards of 15,000 gran fondo riders to enter the lottery for one of 4500 highly coveted starting places. The lottery drawing takes place in early March with winners notified shortly thereafter.

Starting and finishing in Sölden, Austria, the Ötztaler Radmarathon covers 238km with 5500m climbing over 4 Alpine passes – Kühtai  (2020m), Brenner (1377m), Jaufen (2090m) and the big final climb up Timmelsjoch (2509).

Why not take a chance this year and enter the lottery?   You just might get lucky and cross this epic Alpine ride off your bucket list.
