Italian news reports gran fondo champion Marco Morrone is fighting for his life after being hit by an automobile while out for a holiday ride in Pontevecchio, in the province of Arezzo, on December 26th.
His conditions are very serious with doctors talking of a cerebral hemorrhaging.
Morrone, 31 years old from Arezzo, has been a regular podium finisher at Italian road and MTB gran fondo events with his brother Francesco since they were teens. In 2019 he had back-to-back victories at Gran Fondo Davide Cassani and Granfondo Valtidone.
Although recently suspended from competition for 4-years due to a positive drug test, Morrone continued to ride and share his love and passion for the sport.
