On Sunday Colombian cyclist Nairo Quintana, winner of the Giro d’Italia 2014 and the Tour of Spain 2016, hosted 3000 riders at his namesake event, Gran Fondo Nairo Quintana, at Villa de Leyva in Colombia.

With a dozen of Quintana’s friendly Pro Tour competitors showing up, including 2019 Tour de France Champion Egan Bernal, “Superman” Miguel Ángel López, Winner Anacona and Sergio Higuita, participants took many selfies with the Pro Tour riders.

1400 riders tackled the mountainous 130km gran fondo course with a leg-busting 2200m of climbing, while everyone else rode the 100km medio fondo, 50km fun ride or 50km MTB ride.

After 3:43:04 of gran fondo racing, David Esteban Molina Ibañez from Bogata cross the finish line 1st, with Oscar Alejandro Lamprea Mantaño 2nd 3:13 later and James De Jesus Jaramillo Galvez finishing 3rd a few seconds later.

Ana Maria Rios Pinillos, also from Bogata, won the women’s race in 4:31:18 with Monica Pardo and Clara Ines Torres Jiminez 2nd and 3rd respectively.
