Win a gran fondo in Italy and you get 25kg of pasta, ham and a bottle of vino. Win a gran fondo in Ghana and you get an all-expenses-paid trip to London, plus spending money.
That’s exactly what Frank Acuffo (AFRICA CONNECT CYCLING CLUB) and Alexander Allotey (AFRICA CONNECT CYCLING CLUB) earned for winning Ghana’s PRURide Accra gran fondo races.

Riding multiple laps on a circuit in Accra city center on closed roads with full police support and thousands of cheering fans Acuffo won the 100km elite gran fondo race, while Allotey won the 30km amateur medio fondo race.
“I’m so happy. So happy. I have been riding for a long time, but this is one of the best days of my life because I’ve won in my own backyard, among my own people!” Acuffo told Modern Ghana News.

Besides winning a trophy, cash, fitness tracker and other goodies, both riders get an all-expenses-paid VIP London trip to ride the world-famous PruRide London 2020 in August.
Over 250 riders participated in the first edition of PRURide Accra.
