The UCI has approved new rules for riders to qualify for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.
We’ve reviewed the changes and if you want a shot at becoming a World Champion you need to finish in the top 20% of your age group at a qualifying race. That is the only way you will earn a golden ticket that guarantees entry in the World Championships.

Previously, the cut off was 25%, but beginning with the first qualifying event of the 2020 season, riders must finish in the top 20% of their age group at a UCI Gran Fondo World Series event to qualify for the annual World Championships.
With the UCI Gran Fondo World Series continuing to rapidly add more participants and more events around the world each year, the rule change will help keep championship field sizes from being too large and unsafe.

At the Gran Fondo World Championships in Varese, Italy in 2018 field sizes for the largest four age groups (M40-44, M45-49, M50-54, M55-59) averaged over 300 riders each.
Good luck!
