On Monday 02 November, Lu Shao-Xuan (Bryton Racing Team) capped a strong season by winning the Taiwan KOM Challenge in 04:49:21, less than a second ahead of Yeh Hsuan-You (CCN Factory TEAM A) after 215 kilometres racing at an average speed of 45 km/h.
The 15th anniversary edition did not feature the traditional leg-breaking 85 km climb from sea level to Wuling Pass at 3,275 metres. Organisers said heavy rainfall, new landslides and post-earthquake repairs in Taroko Gorge meant road authorities could not approve the route. Instead, a backup course was used, crossing Niushan Mountain twice, the Coastal Mountain Range and the Yuchang Highway twice.
Ng Wing Chung (CCN Factory Racing, Hong Kong) took third, 1 minute 8 seconds behind the winner. Yip Hon Man (CCN Factory Racing), Li Ting-Wei (EPIC TRCA Team) and Hong Kun-Hung (Bryton Racing Team) followed in fourth to sixth, all finishing within one second of Ng.
In the women’s race, Hsu Shu-Wei (TSL Cycling Team) won in 05:35:50, securing back-to-back victories following her 2025 win when she rode for A+ Cycling Studio. Cheng Hsiu-Ju finished second, 29 minutes 46 seconds behind, while Dewika Mulya Sova (Jakarta Pro Cycling, Indonesia) took third, 56 minutes 41 seconds back. Bea Nadine Biaco Ponciano (Philippines) was fourth and Hsu Yu-Chieh fifth.
This is not the first time the popular event has been disrupted by weather and landslides in recent years. The 2024 edition was cancelled, while the 2025 race moved to a new route that bypassed the famous Taroko Gorge climb.
