Organisers of Gran Fondo La Nucia have rescheduled the UCI Gran Fondo World Championship qualifying event for Saturday 07 November 2026, almost three weeks after severe weather forced its last-minute cancellation.
The third edition was called off only hours before the start on Sunday 18 October in La Nucia, Spain, on the orders of the authorities as weather alerts covered the Valencian Community.
About 2,000 riders from 30 countries had registered.
The organisers confirmed that the race-day schedule will remain the same and that the courses are unchanged for the new date. They are the 132-kilometre route with 2,275 metres of climbing and the 71-kilometre route with about 1,000 metres of climbing, both designed by Tour de France champion Miguel Indurain.
Existing entries will carry over to the new date at no extra cost. Riders who cannot attend can transfer their registration to the 2027 edition, also free of charge, through the organisers’ online registration management page. The page will remain active until Monday 02 November, five days before the race.
New registration slots are also available.
The event is a qualifier for the 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in France, with riders finishing in the top 25 per cent of their age and gender category earning a starting position.
