The 20th Sparkassen Münsterland Giro turned the German Unity Day holiday into a full day of racing. A record 8,500 amateur riders entered the three LeezenCups over 65, 95 and 125 kilometers, while the professionals raced from Borken to Münster.

In the 125-kilometer Cup der LBS, Jacob Peter Hess of Leeze Factory Racing won the men’s race in 02:43:07, averaging 44.92 km/h. Johannes Klage was second, 9 seconds behind, and Julius Domnick third, 10 seconds back.

In the women’s race, Nele Wennemann of Siena Garden Racing won in 02:48:00 at 43.61 km/h. Charlotte Thesing was second and Katharina Hinz third. The two finished within two seconds of each other, about 3 minutes 55 seconds behind Wennemann.

The 95-kilometer Cup der Provinzial Versicherung was decided by a sprint finish. Johannes Feddern won the men’s race in 02:07:55, averaging 44.42 km/h. Paul Wester and Benedikt Knülle were credited with identical times, 3 seconds behind, for second and third.

Emily Kiffmeyer won the women’s version in 02:11:39 at 43.16 km/h. Meike Hovenjürgen and Kristin Plümer were next, both timed 1 minute 7 seconds behind.

The professional race started in Borken for the first time in the event’s history and finished at the Schlossplatz in Münster. Dutch sprinter Olav Kooij, 24, won the mass sprint, his second Münsterland victory after 2022. Jordi Meeus of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe was second and Frits Biesterbos of Picnic PostNL third. Max Walscheid, riding the last race of his professional career, finished twelfth.
