The road to the 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Haute-Savoie, France, officially opens this September, with organizers confirming the first wave of qualifying events for amateur riders chasing a rainbow jersey.
According to the UCI, the 2027 qualifying campaign begins on Sunday 13 September 2026 with Amy’s Granfondo in Lorne, Australia, and Granfondo Matildica in Reggio Emilia, Italy, both taking place that weekend. The series then heads to Varese, Italy, for the Tre Valli Varesine, which will double as the UEC European Championships, and to Chile’s Región de Los Ríos, with both events scheduled for 04 October. Spain’s Gran Fondo La Nucía follows on 18 October, before the calendar moves through Greece, Brazil, Ecuador, Argentina, Colombia, Guadeloupe and China’s Hainan province through the end of 2026.
The series resumes in the new year with Spinneys Dubai 92 on Sunday 07 February 2027, followed by Millars Gran Fondo in Spain on 14 March, and events in Cyprus, Croatia, Australia, Germany and Czechia during the spring, with further worldwide qualifiers still to be finalized in the coming months.
As with previous editions, riders will need to finish inside the top 25 percent of their age and gender category, calculated against starters rather than finishers, to earn a place at the 2027 Worlds, which are scheduled to take place in late August or early September in France.
