The legendary Hotter N Hell Hundred is set to live up to its name on Saturday 29 August 2026, with riders facing potentially brutal heat during the 45th edition of the 100-mile iconic Wichita Falls, Texas, event.
The U.S. National Weather Service is forecasting sunny skies and a high of around 103°F (39°C) in Wichita Falls on Saturday, with light southerly winds of 3–8 mph. Temperatures are expected to climb rapidly after sunrise, turning an already demanding event into a major test of heat management.
The 100-mile ride starts at 07:05 local time, alongside 75-mile, 100-kilometre, 50-mile, 25-mile and 10-kilometre options. Organisers have prepared extensive support for the conditions, with 19 aid stations and 50 support vehicles serving cyclists along the routes.
More than 10,000 cyclists are expected to take part in this year’s event, which traces its origins to Wichita Falls’ 1982 centennial celebrations. The original concept was simple: ride 100 miles in 100-degree Texas heat.
The 2026 forecast makes that original challenge particularly relevant. Earlier forecasts had suggested temperatures could climb well above 105°F, leaving competitors to battle the Texas heat as much as each other.
