More than 11,000 amateur cyclists set off from Buxtehude and Hamburg on Sunday for the ADAC Cyclassics, Northern Germany’s largest cycling race weekend, which takes place alongside the UCI WorldTour men’s professional race on the same flat roads and over the short, steep Waseberg climb in Blankenese.
In the 110km Challenge, Sascha Wolf led the peloton across the finish line in the fastest time of 02:26:41, with Felix Rieckmann and Jan Lienig close behind in a tightly packed front group. It capped a breakout season for Wolf, who rides for the Mobil Krankenkasse Cycling Team and finished ninth in this same race a year ago. He arrived in Hamburg on the back of his strongest year yet, having already taken his fourth win of the season at the NRW regional championship in Bocholt and a sprint victory at the Volksbank Giro Glandorf, among other results. Sunday’s victory brought his 2026 win tally to six.
Kristina Lichte led the women’s 110km field home in 02:30:14, ahead of Emily Kiffmeyer, Toni Suzanna Abdic, Julia Brockmeyer and Cecilia Anselem, who rounded out the top five.
Over the shorter 60km route, Andreas Buchalla took the men’s win in 01:14:49, finishing 2 minutes 2 seconds clear of Alex Ide, with Konstantin Hebes, Lukas Nehring and Meik Raabe taking third through fifth place. Anne Sophie Scholtz claimed the women’s 60km title in 01:17:02, finishing more than 3 minutes ahead of Leonie Jensen and Henriette Krügel, who completed the podium.
The amateur distances share much of the same route as the professional race later in the day — won by Soudal–Quick-Step’s Paul Magnier — running from Buxtehude into Hamburg’s city centre. Now in its 29th year, the Cyclassics remains one of Germany’s premier radmarathon events, drawing riders from across Europe to test themselves on the Waseberg’s punishing gradients before enjoying a beer and watching the WorldTour stars race on the same roads in the afternoon.
