American featherweight boxer Hannah Rapp, 26, died on Saturday 18 July 2026 after being struck by a car while cycling on FM 159 in Brazos County, Texas, according to the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to the scene near Bryan shortly before 10:00 local time following reports of a serious collision between a vehicle and a female cyclist, who was found lying in the roadway. Emergency responders treated Rapp at the scene, provided lifesaving care and transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Investigators say the driver, 31-year-old Charles Medina, had passed Rapp and a fellow cyclist before stopping his car, reversing, and striking her. Court documents indicate the car was moving at such a high rate of speed that Rapp’s body shattered the rear windshield. Medina was arrested and charged with manslaughter and remains in custody at the Brazos County Detention Center. The investigation remains active as detectives continue to gather evidence and review all available information.
Brazos County jail records show Medina has a lengthy criminal history, including charges of reckless driving, assault, resisting arrest, escape from custody and deadly conduct involving the discharge of a firearm.
At the time of Rapp’s death, Medina was out on bond for charges stemming from alleged crimes committed in February 2025, including deadly conduct, criminal mischief, and reckless driving.
Rapp, who fought under the nickname “Hanarchy,” challenged for the WBC women’s featherweight world title in June. She relocated to the Bryan-College Station area from Indiana about two years ago and combined her boxing career with full-time work at Texas A&M University, often using cycling to stay in shape and prepare for fights.
WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman called Rapp an exceptional talent and a cherished member of the boxing family. Tributes have also come from fellow fighters, including Jake Paul, who described her as a warrior.
