Adam H. Clark, 51, head coach of the 130-rider, youth-focused Cedar Valley Mountain Bike Team and long-time president of the amateur Lake Mountain Flyers Cycling Club in Eagle Mountain, Utah, USA, faces felony charges after allegedly diverting club funds for personal use, according to Utah County Sheriff’s Office records.
The case came to light after club members reviewing the organisation’s bank statements discovered a series of unauthorised transactions dating from June 2024 to 2026. The members reported their findings to the sheriff’s office on Tuesday 09 June 2026 after issuing Clark with a letter of no confidence on Friday 05 June and confronting him about the discrepancies the following day.
Investigators allege the withdrawals, made through cash, card and Venmo transactions, were used to cover personal expenses, including rent, groceries, meals, child support payments and Netflix streaming services. On Wednesday 24 June 2026, Clark was arrested and booked on suspicion of ten counts of embezzlement. He has since been formally charged with theft over $5,000 and embezzlement or misapplication of association funds, both second-degree felonies.
According to charging documents, Clark told detectives that about $13,000 had been used for personal expenses, although he estimated the total shortfall could reach $30,000 pending a subpoena for his bank records. He also accepted sole responsibility, stating no coach, volunteer or board member had directed his actions.
Clark is not currently in custody, and a summons has been issued for upcoming court appearances. As is standard, all charges remain allegations, and Clark is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
