Canada’s Jack Burke stamped his authority on the Granfondo Livigno Alé for the second consecutive year on Saturday, topping the men’s granfondo standings on cumulative climbing time across seven Alpine ascents. Riding for Skool 4 Cyclists, Burke posted the fastest combined climbing time of 02:28:05 over the 166.8-kilometre, +4,300 metre route, with descents neutralised. Belgium’s Sven Van Luck finished 2 minutes 12 seconds behind, while Italy’s Federico Bonseri and Lucio Pierantozzi shared third and fourth at 2 minutes 45 seconds back. Marco Ceriani rounded out the top five at 3 minutes 10 seconds.

Belgium’s Ils Van der Moeren (Belgian Cycling) was equally dominant in the women’s granfondo, recording a combined climbing time of 03:06:30 across the same seven ascents. Austria’s Katrin Rieder finished a distant second, 29 minutes 20 seconds behind, with Italy’s Laura Tortora third at 48 minutes 36 seconds.

The event’s unique format – timing only the climbs while neutralising the descents – rewarded explosive climbers across a course featuring seven major ascents, including the iconic Mottolino finish, where Tadej Pogacar won the queen stage of the 2024 Giro d’Italia.

In the mediofondo (106km, 2,050m, four climbs), local rider Mattia Longa (Fire & Ice Livigno) topped the men’s standings in 01:02:25, with Lorenzo Zumerle 34 seconds behind and Michele Bracchi 59 seconds back. Fellow local Manuela Pedrana won the women’s mediofondo in 01:19:39, ahead of Luisa Isonni by 3 minutes 13 seconds and Anna Cadorin by 3 minutes 21 seconds.

Unlike last year’s edition, which was cut short after landslides forced all riders onto the mediofondo course, the 2026 event ran both routes in full, rewarding a field of more than 1,000 riders with an uncompromised day in the high Alps. Burke, a two-time Ötztaler Radmarathon champion and former holder of the Alpe d’Huez Strava KOM, continues to establish himself as one of the dominant climbers on the European Alpine gran fondo circuit.
