Enzo Hincapie added another national championship jersey to his growing collection on Friday, soloing to victory in the USA Cycling Junior Men’s Road National Championship in Charleston, West Virginia.
Riding for Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe U19, Hincapie was part of a four-rider move that escaped the field on lap five of seven. He then dropped his breakaway companions — Angus McDonnell, Cormac Nagle and Egan Little — before the final lap and held his advantage to solo across the line in 02:25:37, winning by 50 seconds.
Kaison Smith (EF Education-ONTO) finished second, while Diego Duran (DDP Elite Cycling Team) claimed the final podium spot.
Commenting on his winning ride, Hincapie said, “I just woke up this morning, and I had some sort of feeling like a good feeling and yeah, you know. My parents told me every night to just visualize visualize and like just believe in myself. I don’t even know what to say. Like that’s incredible.”
The victory is the latest milestone in a remarkable junior career. Hincapie won his first national title in 2022 at age 14, added another in 2023, and completed a road race and time trial double in 2024. He is the son of George Hincapie, the former US Postal and Discovery Channel professional who won Stage 15 of the 2005 Tour de France, finished second at Paris-Roubaix that same year, and claimed three US Professional Road Race titles.
Friday’s win continues a family tradition that stretches back two decades. While George made his mark on the sport’s biggest stages, Enzo is building a national championship résumé of his own, adding another stars-and-stripes jersey to the Hincapie family collection.
