The 35th edition of La Limousine André Dufraisse delivered compelling racing across its two flagship distances on Saturday in Panazol, Haute-Vienne, France, with dramatic sprint finishes at the front of both men’s races and dominant women’s performances on each route.
In the men’s La Limousine (159 km), Vendée U Primeo Energie’s Mathéo Barusseau and Killian Larpe of Angoulême VC crossed the line in an identical time of 03:56:18, with the 21-year-old Barusseau — a stage winner at this year’s Tour de Bretagne — edging Larpe, 29, by a tyre’s width. Cédric Verger (UC Condat) took third, just 8 seconds back in 03:56:26.
The shorter La Haut-Viennoise (124 km) produced its own photo finish at the front. Antoine Gabriel of Club Cycliste Nieul narrowly defeated Léo Bech Ripoll of Boisseuil Union Cycliste on the line in 03:14:53, with Quentin Moudoulaud (VTT Haut Limousin) just 2 seconds back in third. Antoine Drotz, riding for Team France Clubs Défense, slotted into fourth at 5 seconds.
In the women’s races, both winners were decisive. Floraine Bernard of UC Montoire was in a class of her own. The former Vuelta España Femenina rider finished in 04:21:44, almost 12 minutes ahead of Gaelle Bouquinet (Guidon Manslois) in second place. Laura Bonnin (Cyclo Club Bosmie), a further 11 minutes and 27 seconds back, claimed third.
On the Haut-Viennoise, Leane Tabu of Team Macadam’s Cowboys was equally authoritative, winning in 03:38:24. Audrey Weingarten (C’Chartres Cyclisme) was 41 seconds back in second, while Sarah Fidanza (Cyclo Randonneur Malemort) and Stéphanie Sahuguède (Cyclo Club Bosmie) tied for third in 03:58:50 — 20 minutes and 26 seconds behind Tabu.
The event, first held in 1992 and based in Limoges, honours André Dufraisse, who won five cyclo-cross world championships and seven French national titles, dominating the discipline so thoroughly that in 1956 he won 19 of the 20 races he entered.
Now among France’s top 15 sportives by participation, the event regularly attracts around 1,500 riders.
